A state trooper shot and killed a man this afternoon in northern Iowa. It happened around 1:15 p.m. east of Floyd.

Authorities say the trooper, who’s name is not being released, started chasing a stolen vehicle driven by a man wanted in Wisconsin for escaping a correctional facility. The chase ended when the convict rolled the vehicle.

A sheriff’s deputy tried to subdue the suspect with a Tazer, but missed. The suspect, armed with a knife, charged at the state trooper who shot the man dead. Iowa DCI agents are investigating the case.
