Hobo dies in bike accident

August 1, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A hobo from Minneapolis is dead after the bicycle he was riding was struck by an SUV late Friday night near Britt.

Sixty-year-old Randy Nomeland, who went by the name “Railroad Randy,” was biking eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 on the west edge of Britt at about 10:30 P.M. when he was struck by a GMC Denali also traveling eastbound driven by 39-year-old Jack Thomas of Floyd.

Garner police later located the vehicle as it continued eastbound on the highway. The accident remains under investigation.
