Floyd man charged in fatal accident

August 4, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A north-central Iowa man is charged with drunk driving after a collision that killed a Minnesota man last week. Authorities say that 60-year-old Travis Thomas of Floyd was driving an SUV that hit Randy Nomeland of Minneapolis last Friday night as Nomeland was riding a bicycle along U.S. Highway 18 near Britt.

Thomas’ SUV was later stopped by Garner police almost 10 miles away from the accident scene. Garner police have charged Thomas with OWI and a charge of insufficient number of headlights. Thomas’ attorney entered a not guilty plea to both charges during a court hearing on Tuesday according to online court records.
