Man dies in hit-and-run motorcycle accident in Davenport

August 15, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Davenport police are looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal motorcycle wreck. It happened Saturday night on a north Davenport one-way. Cops say the drivers of a car and motorcycle both went for the same lane and collided.

The motorcyclist flew off and the cycle slid a long distance before striking another car. The cyclist, 31-year-old Rashad Cooper of Bettendorf, was pronounced dead at a hospital. The vehicle involved in the initial contact with the motorcycle fled the scene. It’s described as a “boxy” sedan.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and alcohol may have been a factor.
