Authorities are investigating a rash of burglaries in three counties across north-central and northeast Iowa. Most of the break-ins have involved golf courses. Floyd County Sheriff Rick Lynch says the latest burglaries occurred late Sunday or early Monday at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club and Ionia City Hall.

Those incidents followed break-ins last week at golf courses in Charles City and Rockford. “We’re also aware of another country club outside of Nora Springs, in Cerro Gordo County, that was broken into within the last two to three weeks,” Lynch said.

No one has been arrested. Lynch is asking for the public’s help in identifying any suspects and his office is reaching out to other law enforcement agencies. He says the information about the burglaries has been sent to sheriff’s offices and police departments in a 16-county area.

The manager of the Cedar Ridge Golf and Country Club in Charles City told Radio Iowa nothing was taken in the break-in there last Wednesday night. The would be burglar was apparently turned away by the country club’s alarm system.
