Sumner-Fredericksburg school delays start one week

August 18, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

School will start a week later than planned for one northeast Iowa school district. Classes were scheduled to begin today in the Sumner-Fredericksburg school district, but that won’t be the case after all.

Both the Fredericksburg and Sumner school boards voted to delay the start of classes until next Thursday, August 25th, because of construction delays on the middle school building in Fredericksburg.

Officials had hoped to move students to alternate locations, but after a long discussion, the boards decided it was best to just delay classes for a week.
