Maquoketa man dies in Mississippi River accident

A Maquoketa man died in a boating accident on the Mississipi River Thursday near Dubuque. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 45-year-old James Sutton died when a boat operated by 38-year-old Kent Hoffman of Galena Illinois went over the top of Sutton’s boat.

A passenger in Sutton’s boat was not seriously injured in the accident. Investigators are still putting together the details of what happened.
