Red Cross continues restructuring across state

September 6, 2011 By Dar Danielson

The Red Cross continues its administrative restructuring across the state, and that includes linking the Grant Wood Chapter in Cedar Rapids with the Hawkeye Chapter in Waterloo. Grant Wood chapter executive, Angela Jordon, says the public won’t notice any change.

Jordon says they are not reducing services, these are more behind-the-scenes changes, paperwork and those kinds of things that they are finding a more efficient way to do things. The restructuring has cost some Red Cross members their jobs.

Jordan says there are unfortunately fewer staff positions with some chapters more affected than others. She says overall across the state, the reduction is about eight percent. Jordan says even with the shaky economy, giving to the Red Cross is “holding pretty steady.”

The Grant Wood Chapter serves Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Delaware, Iowa, Jones, Johnson, Linn, and Washington counties. The Hawkeye Chapter serves, Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette and Grundy counties.
