Police make arrest in Waterloo beating death

September 9, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Waterloo Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a Waterloo man who died after a fight last month.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Paris Akeem Anding Thursday on charges of second degree murder. He is being held without bond at the Black Hawk County Jail. He is also being held on a separate warrant for aggravated assault in an unrelated case.

Officers and paramedics were called to a fight in in Waterloo early on the morning of August 19, where they found 19-year-old Marcellus Andrews lying on the ground. He was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City, where he died two days later after being taken off of life support.

An autopsy showed Andrews died from blunt force trauma to the head and ruled the death a homicide.
