Accidents claim lives in Grundy and Hardin counties

September 12, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Two fatal traffic accidents in north-central Iowa are under investigation. One accident occurred this morning just after 7 o’clock near Beaman in Grundy County. A semi driven by 55-year-old William Thompson of Newton went through a stop sign and collided with a second vehicle, sending both into a ditch.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by state and county authorities and charges are pending. Hardin County authorities have released little information about a one-vehicle accident north of Steamboat Rock.

One person was killed in that crash. The names of the victims in both crashes have not been released.
