A suspect is jailed in the killing of a child in north-central Iowa. A 31-year-old woman from Mulhall, Oklahoma, is being held in the Webster County Jail in Fort Dodge after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of a newborn infant on Tuesday.

Hillary Tyler was identified as a suspect in the investigation. Fort Dodge Police were called to the Super 8 Motel at Fifth Avenue South late Tuesday morning to investigate the discovery of the dead newborn in Tyler’s motel room.

Information developed during the investigation indicated that the death was not natural. Tyler is scheduled to appear today in Webster County Magistrate Court in Fort Dodge on the murder charge filed against her.
