Student arrested after weapon scare at NICC

October 5, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A report of someone carrying a weapon caused a scare at the Northeast Iowa Community College campus in Calmar on Tuesday. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office say they have arrested 22-year-old Brian Pettit of Prairie Du Chien on an harassment charge following a brief search of his car.

At around 11 A.M. Tuesday, officers were called to the campus on a report of someone carrying a weapon, which put the school on lockdown for a short time. Despite the initial report, officers say that no weapons were involved in the incident.
