One dead, one injured in Davenport shootings

October 18, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Davenport shootings kill one man and injure another. One man is dead and another was treated and released, the result of two shootings minutes apart yesterday afternoon in central Davenport.

Police say they may have been related. In the first incident, officers were dispatched to a house where a man had been shot in the upper torso. Twenty-year-old Demetrius Dawan Lewis Jr. was taken to a hospital, where he died. Shortly after the report of that shooting was received, a 25-year-old man appeared at a hospital emergency room for treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper torso.

He claimed he had been shot by unknown people near an intersection. The injured man, Louis Warren Jr., was treated and released on his request. Police say they are processing leads in both shootings.
