Authorities are investigating an altercation between two Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation agents and a Forest City police officer that led to gunfire. A statement from the Iowa Department of Public Safety says at about 6:15 last night, two agents from the DCI were involved in the altercation with an off-duty police officer who was under investigation.

Following an interview with the off-duty officer, a struggle ensued which resulted in the officer being shot by one of the DCI agents. Emergency personnel were called to the scene, with the officer being transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

No names have been released at this time, and the investigation into the incident is continuing.
