Broken steam line causes injuries at Nevada plant

November 8, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A mishap at a central Iowa factory left several employees hurt. An accident at the Lincolnway Energy ethanol plant at Nevada brought injuries to four workers on Monday afternoon.

A power surge ruptured a steam line burning two of the workers and knocking another worker over a railing at the plant. The injured were transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

A fourth worker refused medical treatment at the scene. Officials with the Nevada Fire Department and Lincolnway Energy will determine the exact cause of the accident and review safety procedures in the next few days.
