Iowa women down Virginia Tech in Big10/ACC challenge

December 1, 2011 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeye women survived a cold shooting night as they pulled away down the stretch for a 58-47 win over Virginia Tech in Iowa City as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

“You know it feels really good because this is our first win the the Big 10/ACC challenge,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said afterward. A strong defensive effort allowed the Hawks to win on a night when they connected on only 33% of their shots, including only two of 15 from three point range.

Bluder says their press was good and they rebounded well while also taking care of the basketball.

Iowa improves to 5-2.
