One dead in western Iowa accident

December 2, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

One person died Thursday night following a single-vehicle rollover accident in western Iowa’s Pottawattamie County. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 5:40 p.m. on Interstate 29 near Council Bluffs.

Forty-seven-year-old Eileen J. Walpus, of Glenwood, died at an Omaha hospital after her car left the road, entered a ditch and traveled through a fence before crossing another road and entering another ditch. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its top.

The Patrol says Walpus was wearing her seatbelt. The accident remains under investigation.
