This updates and earlier story with an additional ethics complaint filed.

Two complaints have now been filed in connection with a runoff election December 6th for the mayor’s job in Clinton. The campaign of candidate Mark Vulich filed a complaint with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure board after an email endorsing his opponent was sent from the Iowa State Education Association to union members in the Clinton School District.

The endorsement was sent through the school district’s email system. The school district has now also filed an ethics complaint over the email. The district says a school employee and union representative violated the law by sending the email through the school system and on school time.

The email supported candidate Ed O’Neill. O’Neill said he did know about the email and it is a school district issue.
