Van slides into Mt. Pleasant school bus

December 8, 2011 By Matt Kelley

A slick road is blamed for a van versus school bus crash Wednesday in southeast Iowa. A report from the Iowa State Patrol shows a van driven by 31-year-old Amber Porter of Mt. Pleasant slid across the center-line of a roadway and into the path of a Mt. Pleasant School bus. It happened just before 8 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant.

Porter was taken to a local hospital with injuries to her jaw and face. Twenty-eight students were on the bus. Six were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The patrol report said the road was covered with ice at the time of the crash.
