A Davenport teen is dead following a car wreck early this morning in a field. It happened about 1:30 at a gathering and bonfire in a field in rural southwest Davenport.

Police say a 17-year-old Davenport boy was killed and three other young adults, two boys and a girl, received non life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation indicates two girls were in a parked vehicle and two boys were standing close by. A second vehicle was being driven in the field by an 18-year-old boy when he lost control and struck one of the other boys, pinning him against the parked vehicle.

The victim died at the scene. The driver, one of the two girls in the parked car and the other boy were taken to a hospital by ambulance. No names have yet been released.

Police say there is evidence that alcohol was involved and their investigation is continuing.
