Plymouth County identifies teen in fatal shooting

December 12, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Plymouth County authorities have released the name of the 17-year-old who was shot to death Friday, but there are still many questions remaining about the circumstances of the shooting. The victim has been identified as Kyle Badgerow of rural Kingsley.

Late Friday afternoon, Plymouth County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a rural Kingsley residence to investigate a shooting. Badgerow had a gun shot wound to the chest. He was transported via Life-Net helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Badgerow was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center.

The Woodbury and Plymouth County Medical Examiners were notified and autopsy is being done to assist in determining the manner and cause of death. Authorities say the gun shot wound was not self-inflicted. There were others present at the residence at the time of the shooting.

At this point, no charges have been filed or arrests made.
