Cedar Rapids lawyer pleads guilty to drug charge

December 13, 2011 By O. Kay Henderson

A Cedar Rapids attorney is headed to federal prison. Fifty-two-year-old Stanley Roush has pled guilty to possessing crack cocaine.

Roush admitted in federal court that he went to the parking lot of an apartment complex in northeast Cedar Rapids about a month ago to buy $200 worth of crack. An informant tipped off authorities, saying she smoked crack about once a month with Roush, and he gave her money to buy drugs.

Roush has a previous drug conviction — for marijuana possession. He could be sentenced to up to 24 months in prison on the crack cocaine charge. That’s the maximum. The minimum sentence on the drug possession charge is 15 days.
