Waterloo fire officials are calling an early morning fire “suspicious.” The fire at 428 Center Street broke out around 3:00 this morning. One resident of that apartment building was taken to Allen Hospital after suffering burn injuries.

One other person was taken to the hospital after have difficulty breathing once out of the building. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but fire officials say that the blaze started in a first-floor kitchen and was confined to that area.

One person at the scene was taken into police custody for violating a no contact order.
