Dundee woman dies after being shot by 10-year-old

January 6, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Dundee woman has died after being shot by a child Thursday afternoon. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says an investigation shows 41-year-old Amy Hettinger was shot by a 10-year old child who was handling a loaded handgun in the home.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the Dundee home, where they found Hettinger with a gunshot wound. She later died from her injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The case remains under investigation.
