The Mason City Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating a missing newborn baby. On Saturday, police were called to the Iowa Workforce Development office in Mason City after cleaning staff located an umbilical cord and placenta in one of the restrooms.

Officers later found the mother, 19-year-old Chanel Hanley of Charles City, who they say is not cooperating with the investigation. The baby is believed to be premature, about 29 to 32 weeks, weighing approximately three pounds.

If you or someone you know has any information or knowledge about the missing baby, call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
