The U.N.I. women’s basketball team has won three games in a row coming into tonight’s game against Indiana State at the McLeod Center. Prior to starting this win string on New Year’s Eve, the Panthers had lost three in a row.

U.N.I. coach Tanya Warren says there have been a few differences that have led to the improved play, including rebounding and the hustle plays where they win the “50-50 ball.” She says they’ve also shot better from the free throw line.

Warren says that the biggest difference has been getting more aggressive play out of the team. “We have to continue to do that, we can’t play soft, we’re not very good when we play soft, we have a chance when we play aggressive,” Warren says.

The Sycamores come into tonight’s game at 3-0 in the Valley, but have played each of their conference games on their home floor. Warren says that they do a lot of things well, and are paced by a very impressive post and have almost everyone back from last year.

The Panthers are 10-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
