A jury has convicted a 22-year-old Davenport man of murder. The Scott County jury needed less than three hours to find Zachary Connell guilty of first-degree murder and child endangerment in connection with the death of three-year-old Addison Baldwin.
Connell took his girlfriend’s son to a Davenport hospital on October 12th, 2010, telling a nurse there the child was dead in the backseat of his car. Police arrested Connell about two weeks later, saying the child died of blunt force trauma.
Connell faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole on the murder charge.
