January 23, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The names of the three people killed are being released after a car-pickup accident near Rippey on Sunday afternoon. They are 42-year-old David James Muir of Rippey and a passenger in his car, 19-year-old Andrew G. Jackson of Orient. The other victim is the driver of the pickup truck, Dwight L. Snogren of Jamaica.

The accident happened on Greene County Road R-57. Reportedly the eastbound 2002 Pontiac Firebird driven by Muir was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed when it lost control, crossing the center line and then collided with the westbound 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Snowgren.

The impact pushed both vehicles into the north ditch, rolling onto their sides. All three were pronounced dead at the accident scene.
