Iowa State shaved an 18 point Texas lead to three in the second half but could get no closer in a 62-55 Big 12 loss in Austin. Cyclone coach Fred Hoiberg said it was tough to come from behind such a big hole.

“I thought defensively we played well enough all game to win that game, just offensively we lost our mind in that first half, you’ve got to take what the defense gives you and they were really trying to take away our three-point shot,” Hoiberg said. He said he told them they were not shooting until they got it into the post, and they started doing that.

Royce White had 15 points and 15 rebounds but struggled from the foul line and finished only one of seven. Hoiberg says his first one looked great, but then he missed one and lost confidence.

Iowa State falls to 4-3 in the Big 12 and 14-6 overall.
