Durant man dies in Scott County accident

January 25, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An eastern Iowa man is dead following a collision between a piece of ag equipment and a van. It happened a little after 3 Tuesday afternoon on a rural Scott County road, just north of I-80’s Stockton exit.

The Iowa State Patrol says 49-year-old Bartholomew Costello of Durant was driving a Terragator fertilizer truck. Troopers say Costello turned left into the path of a mini-van driven by 67-year-old Loren Clasen of New Liberty. Clasen was killed in the accident.

The Patrol says the accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
