Poweshiek County investigating “suspicious” death

January 31, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The death of a woman in Poweshiek County Monday morning is being called “suspicious.” Poweshiek County Sheriff Tom Sheets says shortly after 6:30 a.m. an ambulance and a deputy were dispatched to a rural address northwest of Hartwick to check on a female who was unconscious.

The woman, identified at 36-year-old Lydia Wisner, was taken to Grinnell Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. The state medical examiner’s office is performing an autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s office, Poweshiek County Attorney’s office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
