A Dumont man is under arrest after a high-speed chase that started in Clear Lake. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2400 block of South Shore Drive for a traffic violation at about 1:30 this morning, with the driver fleeing south out of town onto gravel roads.

The pursuit continued on county roads with the suspect vehicle reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour to the town of Klemme. A Hancock County deputy was then able to successfully deploy stop sticks, deflating the driver’s side tires of the vehicle. The vehicle continued on its flat tires through the town where the pursuing deputy used legal intervention to end the chase.

The driver then fled the vehicle and was captured after a short foot chase. 22-year-old Christopher Grover was wanted on three outstanding drug-related warrants from Cerro Gordo County. Grover was charged with eluding, interference with official acts and driving under suspension. He’s being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail without bond.
