Although the U.N.I. women’s basketball team sits at 15-7 on the season, the team has major problems when it comes to the injury front. K.K. Armstrong is one Panther who’s been banged up.

U.N.I. coach Tanya Warren says that Armstrong may join the list of Panthers missing practice time, but she doesn’t expect the senior to miss any games. Warren says Smith was “extremely sore” and the trainer said it’s from head to toe and she has been taking ice baths to try and get ready to play.

Coach Warren added that Armstrong has done an excellent job of battling through the pain in her senior year. She says the team has a good understanding of where they are in the season and how important practices are to prepare, especially the seniors.

The Panthers will need Armstrong and her 12 points per game to have a shot at beating Illinois State on the road this Friday. The Redbirds sit one game behind U.N.I. in the conference standings, and are undefeated at home.
