Northwestern took control early with a 16-2 run and rolled past the Iowa Hawkeyes 83-64 in Big Ten play. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said,”We were absolutely soft, soft in ever facet of the game. Turned the ball over, didn’t guard them, didn’t guard the three. Everybody got their averages or better. Just a very, very disappointing effort tonight.”

The Hawkeyes turned the ball over 18 times and Northwestern connected on 13 three pointers in the game as the Hawks fall to 5-7 in the conference race. McCaffery said it’s frustrating because of how hard they worked to prepare and they didn’t compete in the game.

Freshman Aaron White was one of the few bright spots. He finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. White says they knew coming in that they would see a 1-3-1 zone defense and worked against it and he felt confident they knew what they had to do. But White says you can’t turn over the ball 18 times and give up so many threes and still win.

Iowa is off until a trip to Penn State next Thursday.
