93 counts filed in northwest Iowa animal neglect case

February 15, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Ninety-three counts of animal neglect are now filed against Mary Brodersen, from the northwest Iowa town of Kiron. On January 25th, 87 dogs and one cat were seized by the Sac County Sheriff’s Department at her farm at 3975 Dean Avenue, Kiron.

There were also five dead dogs found at the farm. Eighty-eight of the charges are simple misdemeanors, five are serious misdemeanors. The surviving animals were turned over to various animal shelters around the state for treatment.

They are now available for adoption. A Sac County Magistrate Judge has ordered Brodersen to appear for an initial appearance later this month.
