A Fort Dodge police officer was arrested Tuesday on a charge of first-degree burglary. Lieutenant David Beshey was booked into the Webster County Jail on the charge with a cash bond of $50,000.

Beshey has been relieved of his duties as a Fort Dodge police officer pending the outcome of the investigation. On Monday morning, Fort Dodge Police received information from a local citizen regarding allegations against Lieutenant Beshey.

Based on the information developed in the initial investigation and to avoid a potential conflict of interest, Fort Dodge police requested the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to investigate the criminal charges. An internal investigation is being conducted by the Fort Dodge Police Department in conjunction with the criminal investigation which led to the arrest of Beshey on Tuesday.
