February 23, 2012 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeye men will try to sweep their season series with Wisconsin when the Hawkeyes host the Badgers, tonight, in Big Ten play. The Hawks stunned the Badgers in their first meeting in Madison.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery who says the first meeting gave the Hawksd a boost of confidence as they knew they had to play a near perfect game and they went in and did it. He says it’s an example of what they can be capable of if they play well.

Iowa is 6-8 in ther Big Ten and 14-13 overall. The Badgers are fourth in the league race at 9-7.

A six-game winning streak has moved the Iowa women into a third place tie in the Big Ten entering the final week of the regular season. Iowa is on the road, tonight, to play Northwestern. Bluder says it’s another big week and she says it’s that way every week in the conference.

By finishing in the top four in the Big Ten the Hawkeyes would earn a first round bye at the conference tournament. “Really happy that we’ve moved up to a tie for third and what happens this week will really impact where we end up,” Bluder said. She says they can finish as high as third and as low as 7th.
