Man dies after fall from tombstone

February 24, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An eastern Iowa man is dead following a freak accident. It happened late Wednesday at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Macomb, Illinois.

Witnesses told police that 28-year-old Michael B. Farrell of Davenport climbed up on a large tombstone, then fell 10 feet onto his back. Police say Farrell was unresponsive when rescue workers arrived. He was pronounced dead a short time later at McDonough District Hospital.

Police do not suspect foul play in the death.
