There was a peaceful conclusion to a standoff north of Davenport. It happened Thursday night during a snowstorm in an the unincorporated area known as Mount Joy. An armed man at a mobile home park barricaded himself inside his trailer.

He had a handgun and threatened to shoot himself. As negotiators talked to him by phone, he held Scott County Sheriff’s deputies at bay for more than two hours before finally surrendering. No one was hurt.

The man was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation. Deputies did not release his name.
