Leaders of a northeast Iowa county will vote this afternoon on spending millions to rebuild a demolished dam and a lost lake. The Delaware County Board of Supervisors will decide today whether or not to pass a three-million dollar emergency bond to help rebuild the Lake Delhi dam, which was destroyed in a historic flood in July 2010.

The Lake Delhi Trustees requested the bond earlier this year, and a public hearing held last week turned out an estimated 600 people, nearly all of whom spoke in favor of the bond. If the supervisors choose not to issue the bond, they could still put it up for a countywide vote, which could be held as early as May.
