The Mason City man who was shot by his son last week is now facing child endangerment charges. Mason City police on Friday charged 29-year-old Christopher Upenieks with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and allowing a minor access to a firearm, a serious misdemeanor.

Upenieks was accidently shot by his son last Monday after the four-year-old boy got the gun inside his truck and discharged it, striking his father in the leg. Upenieks was cited by police and was released to appear in court at a later date.
