Petersburg man sentenced to 10 years on sexual abuse charge

March 12, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An eastern Iowa man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a teenage girl. Fifty-four-year-old Duane Burkle of Petersburg was sentenced to ten years in prison Monday in Delaware County District Court on a charge of third-degree sexual abuse.

Court records say in 2006, Burkle sexually abused a girl 14 to 15 years old. He has been ordered to have no contact with the girl, who is now 20 years old. Burkle was scheduled to report to the Sheriff’s Office Monday afternoon. His bond has been set at 10-thousand dollars.
