This morning’s fog proved to be deadly as an auto accident near Orange City claimed the life of a Sioux Center man. According to the Sioux County sheriff’s accident report, 35-year-old Antonio Martinez Salazar’s vehicle crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with 71-year-old Bruce Verhoef, also of Sioux Center.

The accident occurred about 6:00 a.m. Verhoef and his passenger, 77-year-old Marvin Boone of Sioux Center were transported via ambulance to the Orange City hospital for treatment of their injuries. Salazar was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sioux County Medical Examiner.
