A man from the northeast Iowa town of Sumner is charged in a livestock neglect case.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department says 66-year-old Lawrence Daisy was charged with 25 counts of duty to dispose of dead bodies and livestock neglect.

A search of the property near Sumner found 25 animals dead and a veterinarian determined the 25 alive animals on the property had been neglected. The investigation also determined there were animals on another property Daisy was renting.

The Sumner Police Department has also filed six counts of duty to dispose of dead bodies and livestock neglect against Daisy. The sheriff’s department will continue to monitor the proper removal, disposal and care of all animals.
