Two dead in apparent murder/suicide in Jesup

March 22, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An apparent murder/suicide is under investigation in the northeast Iowa town of Jesup.

Two people are dead following a shooting last night.

The Buchanan County Sheriff responded to the reports of shots being fired in a residential area of Jesup, just before 9 PM.

One person was apparently dead at the scene, and the other was taken to an area hospital, but also died.

One of the victims has been identified as Lindsay Nichols of Evansdale. She was a 2008 graduate of Waterloo East High School.

Sources indicate that Nichols was shot by a former boyfriend, who then turned the gun on himself. His name has not yet been released.
