Murder trial begins today for Burlington man

April 9, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A Burlington man goes on trial today for a murder in the Davenport area. Thirty-four-year-old Chad Michael Lee Welsh is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 41-year-old Angela Hennes.

Hennes disappeared in January 2007 after leaving her downtown Davenport apartment. Her strangled, naked and burned body was discovered 10 days later in a farm field in rural Scott County. She was identified through fingerprints. Deputies charged Welsh with the Hennes murder in June of last year.

They say they linked him with DNA from the murder scene. Welsh was brought to Scott County from a federal prison in Missouri, where he was serving time for child pornography.
