One woman was killed, another injured, in a shooting in Waterloo last night. Thirty-three-year-old Marlene Buss called 911 just before seven o-clock last night, saying that she had been shot.

When police arrived at the home she shares with her mother on the city’s northeast side, they found that both Buss and her mother, 59-year-old Kay Straw, had suffered gunshot wounds.

Straw was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Buss survived the shooting and is being treated for her injuries. Police say they’re looking for a male suspect in the case.

They say the women knew the man who shot them.
