Shooting death in south central Iowa

A pregnant 23-year-old was shot to death this weekend near Agency, a small town about seven miles southeast of Ottumwa. 

Wapello County’s sheriff says early Saturday morning a 911 call came into the sheriff’s department and the caller said an individual being shot. The incident happened just southwest of Agency.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Lisa Techel of Agency. She is the daughter of a Wapello County deputy and she worked at the Washington County Jail in Washington, Iowa. She was a reserve deputy with the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department. An autopsy was conducted on Sunday, but the results haven’t been released.
