Humboldt man dies in head-on collision with semi

A 23-year-old Humboldt man was killed Monday evening as the result of an accident involving a semi and a pickup east of Humboldt on Highway 3. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Andrew J. Mennenga.

Reportedly a westbound 1998 Dodge Ram pickup operated by Mennenga crossed the center line striking an eastbound 2012 Kenworth semi driven by 37-year-old Rodney Whitecotton of Peterson,Iowa. Mennenga died of his injuries as he was transported to a Humboldt hospital. Whitecotton escaped injury.
