Brush company in Fairfield files for bankruptcy

May 31, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Officials at a southeast Iowa company say they don’t expect any layoffs after filing for bankruptcy. Harper Brush Works the manufacture of brooms and brushes founded in Fairfield 112 years ago has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in United States Bankruptcy Court.

The move has been made in order to reorganize its debts and keep the company running. The Company has retained Chief Restructuring Officer Marc Ross and will be represented by the law firm Bradshaw, Fowler, Proctor & Fairgrave, P.C. of Des Moines.

Harper Brush employs approximately 70 full-time and 5-10 part-time and contract labor employees company-wide, the majority of which work from its headquarters in Fairfield, Iowa.
